Simple Laundry Tips

Simple Laundry TipsTrust me, the last place you want to spend your Saturday afternoons is at the laundromat.  One of the great things about living in the Villas of Oak Hill is that you don’t have to leave your apartment to get your laundry done!  Listed below are some helpful and easy tips for you to take into consideration on laundry day courtesy of TLC:

  • If you make the unfortunate mistake that so many of us do and accidentally dye your white clothes red, don’t fret as long as you don’t put these items in the dryer.  Instead, simply put the damp clothes in a solution of baking soda and warm water with 1/2 cup of salt and 1/2 cup of detergent added to it.  Then re-wash the clothes as usual with your regular detergent.  This should help you recover your clothes!
  • Do your clothes have unwanted odors such as smoke?  If so, turn on the hot water in your bathtub and mix in 2 cups of white vinegar.  Then hang your clothes on the shower rod, close the door, and let the steam of the hot water take out the unwanted smell.
  • Is your detergent not doing the trick?  Add a little baking soda to the washing machine to help boost the cleanliness of your clothes.

My friend and I have a laundry service we started a few years ago. We found that white vinegar is a great natural fabric softner. If you put 3/4 cup into the rinse cycle it softens clothes, saves money, is eco-friendly, and helps keep your washing machince clean.
